Small Group Employment

Janitorial – Mobile Work Force

• In Lark’s Janitorial Services, you will be with a team of individuals, supervised by a job coach, cleaning organizations and businesses that have contracted with Lark for cleaning services.

Recycling – Mobile Work Force

• In Lark’s Recycling Services, you will be with a team of individuals, supervised by a job coach, providing recycling services to businesses and organizations that have contracted with Lark for those services.

Delivery Services – Mobile Work Force

• In Lark’s Delivery Services, you will be supervised by a job coach, providing delivery services to businesses and organizations that have contracted with Lark for delivery services.

Auto Detailing (Mobile) – Mobile Work Force

• In Lark’s Auto Detailing Services, you will be with a team of individuals, supervised by a job coach, detailing autos for individuals, businesses, or organizations that have contracted for detailing services.

Industrial Work Sites– Workstation in Industry

• In Lark’s Industrial Work Sites, you will be with a team of individuals, supervised by a job coach, at local businesses in the immediate area, training for potential positions available at the industrial work site. Once job expertise is demonstrated the individual may be hired by the industry being served.

Social Enterprises – Affirmative Industry

• In Lark’s social enterprises, you will be employed by Lark for no less than minimum wage in order to fill contracted orders from businesses who outsource to Lark Social Enterprises. You will be supported by a job coach. As an affirmative industry, we are dedicated to providing opportunities for work to people with disabilities. As such, we will give a preference to hiring those individuals who self-disclose a disability.

Settings

Small Group Employment is provided in community-based settings or in affirmative businesses owned and operated by Lark. Our affirmative businesses, which we refer to as social enterprises occur in unlicensed spaces owned by Lark.

Small Group Employment includes supporting the participant with a disability with personal care needs that cannot or would be inappropriate to, be provided with the support from co-workers or other natural supports.

Transportation

Small Group Employment includes transportation that is an integral component of the service, for example, transportation to a work site for janitorial, recycling, delivery, auto detailing, and industrial work sites. Transportation to and from your home to Lark may be planned apart from the particular job or workforce transportation.

Staff

Small Group Employment staff members, job coaches, and program specialists, have specialized training in employment in community-based settings and hold Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) Certification. This enables the staff to be highly qualified in the Association of People Supporting Employment First (ASPE) nationally recognized first formal set of competencies for employment providers. These competencies cover the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively in the field of employment for people with disabilities. ACRE refined and expanded ASPE competencies to allow for multiple approaches to employment for people with disabilities, including competitive employment, Customized Employment, supported employment, and small group employment.

Staffing may occur at the following levels:

• Basic Staff Support – staff to individual ratio of 1:10 to 1:6.

• Level 1 – staff to individual ratio of <1:6 to 1:3.5

• Level 2 – staff to individual ratio of <1:3.5 to >1:1

• Level 3 – staff to individual ratio of 1:1

Funding

Small Group Employment is funded through Waiver Services (Base, Person/Family Directed Support Waiver, Consolidated Waiver, Community Living Waiver) or private pay.
